Slater School Garden
Welcome to Slater's School Garden
Slater’s School Garden was started in 2014 and is currently maintained by our moderate-severely disabled Special Education class. The garden program is embedded throughout our curriculum, from our Functional Math program to our Community Based Instruction program.
The garden opens the door to allow generalization of pragmatic skills with typical peers through mainstreaming activities with general education students as well as other opportunities to go out into the community to interact with customers, purchasing new items for the garden, or simply showing off their accomplishments. The garden is a means to break down barriers that limit our student's participation with the school environment and community. The Garden is an area where they are in charge, where they can lead other students. This empowerment leads all students to be as successful as possible.
